A PO Box costs $10 every six months. For most families that's manageable. For some it's a real barrier — and it means their child misses out on the whole experience.
Give a Key changes that. One click. Ten dollars. One child gets their first mailbox, their first key, and their first address in the world.
When MailDay members check out they can add a Give a Key sponsorship with one click. You can also donate directly here. Every dollar goes into the MailDay Mailbox Fund — a communal pool that covers PO Box setup costs for families who apply.
There's no designated recipient. No pen pal pairing. Just a fund that makes sure the next family who needs help gets it.
Families who can't cover the cost of a PO Box apply through a simple form. Applications are reviewed within 48 hours. Approved families receive a digital fund credit covering their PO Box setup cost.
No income verification. No proof required. No judgment. Just a mailbox for their kid.
You have three ways to give.
Pools with others to fund a full mailbox
Covers everything a family needs to get started
Covers the renewal when the first six months are up
Every sponsorship triggers a confirmation email. When the mailbox you sponsored is claimed you'll receive a follow-up — "A child somewhere just got their first key." No names. No details. Just the moment.
Fill out the short application below. Tell us your name, your email, how many children you're enrolling, and whether you're a current MailDay member or applying to join at the same time.
That's it. We review every application within 48 hours. If the fund has enough to cover your mailbox setup you'll hear back with a USPS gift card and a note from Courtney.
If the fund is temporarily empty we'll add you to the waitlist and reach out the moment it replenishes. You won't fall through the cracks.
Applications are first-come, first-served based on available fund balance. There is no income verification and no documentation required. We trust you.
Directly into the MailDay Mailbox Fund — a communal pool that covers PO Box setup costs for families who apply. There's no administrative fee taken from Give a Key donations. Every dollar goes toward mailboxes.
You'll receive a confirmation email when you give and a follow-up when the mailbox is claimed — "A child somewhere just got their first key." We don't share names or identifying details about recipients. Just the moment.
Yes — donate any amount using the $10 option and adjust the quantity at checkout. If you'd like to make a larger gift or explore corporate sponsorship opportunities email us at hello@joinmailday.com.
Give a Key covers your PO Box setup cost only — that's the one barrier we're solving. Your monthly MailDay membership is a separate charge you'll set up when you apply. At $14-20/month depending on your tier, it's less than most streaming subscriptions. If you ever need to pause, that option is always available to you.
You'll go on the waitlist and hear from us as soon as the fund replenishes. Applications are reviewed in the order received. You won't lose your place.
Not currently — MailDay is a for-profit LLC and Give a Key donations are not tax deductible at this time. We are exploring fiscal sponsorship options for future giving. We'll update this page if that changes.
We'd love to talk about it. Corporate sponsorships, back-to-school giving programs, and holiday giving campaigns are all things we're building toward. Email hello@joinmailday.com and a real person will write back.
But for a kid standing at their own mailbox for the first time — turning the key, pulling open the little door, finding something inside that was sent just for them — it's the whole world.
