Your price never goes up

Whatever you're paying when you join is what you keep paying, for as long as you stay. We don't raise prices on families who are already here — not next year, not in three years.

Annual is the cheapest way in. You pay nine months' price for twelve months, so three months are free — $54 on Core or Minis, $75 on Homeschool.

You can also move between tiers without losing your rate. It's tied to your account, not your plan.

Same pack, same match, same 21-day guarantee either way.

Three months free, and a price that stays put.

$180/year for Core or Minis. $250/year for Homeschool.

Prefer monthly? Core and Minis are $18/month, Homeschool is $25. Same everything, no commitment.

Not ready to commit?

The MailDay Starter Kit is a one-time digital download that gives your family one full month of Core pack content — Poppy's adventure comic, a stationery sheet, the conversation prompt card, a getting started guide, and a pen pal conversation starter card.

It's $17. You download it, print it, and see what your kid does with it. If they love it — and they usually do — you subscribe. If not, you spent $17 and learned something useful.

Coming Soon: Try MailDay before you subscribe.

One important thing: the Starter Kit does not include a pen pal match. A pen pal is a commitment for both families — we only make those matches for members. The Starter Kit gives you everything else.

The Sponsored Mailbox Program

A PO box is a nice way for a kid to get mail — their name on the box, their own key, and a real reason to walk down there. It costs $10–30 a month depending on where you live, and for some families that's the thing standing between their kid and a mailbox of their own.

Give a Key covers it. Chip in $5, $10 or $20 and it goes into a fund that pays for a PO box for another family. It's completely separate from your membership — it doesn't change what you pay and it doesn't get you anything extra. It just means another kid gets a mailbox.

Every dollar goes to PO boxes. Never to memberships.

Our promises

Three things we stand behind.

Real match, real fast.

A real match, reviewed by a real person. We pair kids by age and shared interests. Every match is reviewed & approved by a real person before either family hears about it. If we can't find a good one within 21 days of your signup, your billing pauses automatically and we keep looking. You'll never pay for a pen pal you don't have.

If the pen pal stops writing, we fix it.

Life happens. If your child's pen pal goes quiet for more than six weeks, let us know and we'll rematch at no charge. No questions asked. Your child doesn't have to know it wasn't their choice.

Cancel or pause anytime.

No contracts, and no pressure. Email us at hello@joinmailday.com any time and we'll take care of it. There's no button for it, and that's on purpose — there's another kid on the other end of your kid's letters, and we'd rather land it softly on both ends than let it happen with a click. We don't argue and we don't ask three times.

A note on PO Boxes: MailDay recommends families use a PO Box rather than their home address — for privacy. A PO Box typically costs $10–30/month depending on your post office and size. That's not part of your MailDay membership, but we want you to know about it upfront. If cost is a barrier, the Give a Key program exists specifically to help.

Questions

Answered honestly.

How does matching work?

When you sign up, you fill out a profile about your child — their age, interests, personality, and what kind of pen pal they're hoping for. Our team (and Poppy, in spirit) reads those profiles and makes a considered match. We look for similar ages and compatible interests, with just enough difference to make the letters interesting. It's not algorithmic. A real person reads every profile.

How long does it take to get matched?

It depends on who's waiting in the queue when you join — sometimes it's quick, sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to find someone genuinely well suited. We'd rather take a few extra days than make a match that doesn't fit. What we can promise: if we can't find a good match within 21 days of your signup, your billing pauses automatically and we keep looking. You'll never pay for a pen pal you don't have.

Your first monthly pack arrives on the 1st regardless, so your child has something to open while they wait.

What if my child's pen pal stops writing?

If a pen pal relationship goes quiet for more than six weeks, reach out and we'll rematch your child at no charge. We don't ask for explanations. Life happens — families move, get busy, go through hard things. Your child gets a new pen pal. They don't need to know the details.

Do I need a printer?

Yes. MailDay is currently a digital membership — you receive a PDF pack each month and print it at home. Standard home printer, standard paper. The stationery and templates are designed to print on regular 8.5×11 paper. We're working on a physical tier (Phase 2) for families who prefer not to print. If that's you, get on the waitlist.

What age is right for each tier?

Minis (ages 3–6): the pack is centered on drawing, coloring, and simple activities. Your child draws their response; you can add a sentence or two. Their pen pal gets original artwork in the mail. Perfect for kids who can't write yet but absolutely want a pen pal anyway.

Core (ages 6–12): the pack assumes the child can write independently — or close to it. The conversation prompt card gives them five questions to choose from. Most 6-year-olds need a little help; most 8-year-olds don't. If you're unsure, Minis is the safer start — you can always upgrade.

Can I enroll more than one child?

Yes — each child needs their own subscription, since each child gets their own pen pal match. You can manage multiple children from one account.

Is there a discount for multiple children?

Not currently — but it's on the roadmap. For now, the founding member rate ($8/month per child, locked for life) is the best deal available. If you're enrolling multiple children, locking in the founding rate for all of them is the move.

Can I pause instead of cancel?

Yes. You can pause your membership for up to three months — useful if you're traveling, going through a busy season, or just need a break. Your pen pal relationship is held during a pause. When you resume, you pick up where you left off.

What is the Homeschool Edition and do I need it?

The Homeschool Edition adds a monthly unit study built around the same theme as your pen pal pack, organized into six pillars — Story, Place, Character, Hand, Narration and Rhythm. Grounded in Charlotte Mason, backed by modern learning science. Open-and-go, no prep, no schedule. Print what you want and skip what you don't.

It's a supplement, not a full curriculum. You already have math, phonics and grammar handled — this layers on top of whatever you're using.

You don't need it to have a great pen pal experience. The standard Core and Minis packs stand completely on their own. Read more here.

What is Give a Key?

MailDay recommends families use a PO Box instead of a home address for privacy — and a PO Box costs money that not every family has. Give a Key is a $5, $10, or $20 add-on at checkout that sponsors a PO Box for a family who can't afford one. Every child deserves a mailbox. Give a Key makes that possible for kids who would otherwise be left out. Families can also apply to receive a sponsored mailbox — no questions, no paperwork, no stigma.

Is there a physical option?

Not yet. MailDay is currently a digital membership — you print the pack at home each month. A physical tier where we mail a printed pack directly to your door is planned for Phase 2. If you'd like to be notified when that launches, get on the list here.

Pick a plan. Tell us about your child. Poppy handles the rest. Your first pack arrives within a week of your match. After that, your kid will check the mailbox every day. That part we can promise.
